Week 7 Notes
(School/Coach Items Are In Red)
Game Cancellations
- It
is probable that some games will be cancelled due to the fires. Please
contact Paul Wyllie as soon as you know. Referees
are to call the school as well. Make a second call to the school on the day of the game.
There are times when the school district decides to cancel all outdoor
events.
Field Markings
- The
restraining line at least 6 feet from the sidelines in not only required
but is also important when school allow alumni on the field at Homecoming.
Officials are to notify Paul Caldera and/or
Speed Castillo if fields are still not compliant. If this becomes an issue
in determining if a school can host a playoff game, we will be able to
provide the C.I.F. with the information.
Adornments
- Arm
bands appear to be coming back into style. Please have them removed. This
is for all levels.
Illegal Substitutions
- If
you determine that there are 12 defensive players on the field prior to
the ball being snapped, shut it down and have a 5 yard substitution
infraction. Don’t split hairs. If the player is a step away from the
sidelines, let him go with no penalty.
- If
the player was running off the field (not close), the ball is snapped and
that was the 12th player, the foul is a “live ball”
substitution infraction (5 yards). This happens when the officials are not
sure it the player running off was the 11th or 12th
player until after the ball was snapped. Note that the player did not
participate in the play.
Game Tapes
- If
a team is gracious enough to make a copy for you, give them a replacement
tape (common courtesy).
- Have
“one” representative of the crew contact the head coach. Don’t ask for
multiple copies.
- I
know of three websites that
have high school football games that you can view anytime;
- It’s
good to learn from our mistakes. It’s better to keep an open mind.
Final Make-Up Meeting
- Wednesday,
October 24th 7:00 PM at El Modena High School. Room
422
